Great, Lance!

When I built my kit, the OLF was a rich resource. This would have been even better!

Pat, that is exactly the idea behind this new forum! Brock and I have long thought a Kit component would be a great place for many to start. And with our new commitment to better "house keeping" it seemed like an obvious choice that we needed a place like this! Its a resource that has been sorely missed.

Lately there has been a tremendous influx of new members who are just starting thier guitar building adventures, many whom are starting with kits.

We think that this will be a useful section to cover many of the basic questions that everyone has during their first build.

Lance,

This is great, I'm in the middle of building my 1st Blues Creek Kit Guitar. Every morning I log on to Bill Cory's "Kit Guitar Builders Forum" and to this great place. I am somewhat reticent to ask questions to some of the heavy hitters here, but not anymore. Thanks.

Blues Creek Kit Martin D-28
Black Walnut B&S
Red (Adi) Spruce Top
Martin short scale 24.9
Slope shouldered Dreadnought in a Gibson Jumbo Mold, from who else? John Hall.
Standard D-28 dressing

Once I learn how to post photos here,I will

Thanks again

Woody bliss

Woody,
I think its important to remember, ( and this is why I put it in the "rules) for this section,
"Everybody starts somewhere"!

Welcome to our Kit Builder forum! Many of us started with Kits and there are a quite a few OLFers
that are currently building kits. So jump in with both feet!

Lance

Great idea! I'm halfway through my second kit build and suspect I'll be in here with great frequency.

George :-)

I'll post a few pics of my progress soon. I bought my new kit from Kevin Gallagher--great guy and a great kit. It's an 0-sized 12-fretter that I'm making for my daughter--hopefully in time for Christmas.

Here's what it looked like coming out of the box...

I have the Cumpiano/Natelson and Kincaid books and they are very useful, but this forum and Kit Guitar Forum have been invaluable resources for me.

Thanks,
George :-)

Lance and Brock--

Kudos!! Very good idea to put this resource here. I know that when I first found out about the OLF, I was pretty intimidated to chime in on posts. This is a place where I hope all can contribute. Kits are a great way to get into building and even the least experienced of us can and do help out with our postings.
